I started dancing with April Genovese about 5 years ago and since then have had the pleasure of performing with her group, The Melaza Dance Company. In fact, I have been with the group since it’s inception. With Melaza, I have performed at clubs, socials and parties throughout New England and New York City. Melaza has also had the honor of performing for many years with the world’s best dancers at the West Coast Salsa Congress, the New York Salsa Congress, and of course the Boston Salsa Congresses. It has been my great pleasure to dance with a wonderful and talented group of performers in Melaza. I have to give great respect and love to April for all she has shared with me to help me grow as a dancer.
I have been DJing for about two years now. I got started because I was passionate about the music and wanted to share that with other dancers. To this day, I like nothing better than to be able to bring an exciting new song or an old gem to the dance floor. I give special credit to DJ Nik for exposing me to some truly extraordinary music and to Suzanne Steele for giving me the opportunity to get started as a club DJ. I like to think that I come to DJing first as a dancer. I want the music I play to move people to dance, feel the music, and enjoy the passion and vitality of this amazing music. I hope everyone goes home tired and happy every night I DJ.
You can hear me regularly at Temporada Latina on Thursdays at Ryles. I am the house DJ at Wepa Salsa Sundays every Sunday at Ryles. Also in Boston, I have had the pleasure of appearing at SalsaBoston.com’s Salsa Night at Sophia’s and An Tua Nua. I have also been privileged to be an invited DJ for the 2004 and 2005 Boston Salsa Congresses and the 2005 Connecticut Salsa Festival.
I truly value all my friends and all the great dancers we have here in Boston. Having had the opportunity to experience the salsa scene in a number of different cities, I have to say that we are fortunate with what we have right here in our backyard. It is an honor to be able to play music for all of you.
